I am a Mother (of a 16 year-old daughter), a Wife (of 30 years), a Daughter (caregiver to my 87 year-old mother), and an HR Executive (of 30 years)…not unlike me there are thousands of women in the workforce who wear many hats. There are times when we struggle to keep all of the balls in the air. There are even times we feel guilty when, much to our dismay, one of those balls drops and breaks. I’ve learned over the years that not all balls are made of glass; in fact, there are many balls that simply bounce back when they are dropped. But I had to learn that lesson and many others over time. There are many things I’ve experienced as a woman in an executive role to include achieving some pretty significant career milestones, contributing and coaching at the highest levels in an organization, as well as encountering some pretty painful ‘barriers to entry’. I’ve experienced being respected for my competence; yet I’ve also experienced being discounted for my gender and race. However, in all of these experiences, I have been made stronger. I’ve learned more about myself and have had to confront some of my own ‘brutal realities’ as Jim Collins calls them. It is with 30 years of HR expertise and many life lessons as a mother, wife, and executive that I desire to have transparent developmental dialogue, Real-Talk, designed to validate, motivate, and build the capability of women to reach their full potential in their careers.

Career Background

I have been blessed to have been part of some great organizations and I’d like to thank each of them for contributing to my destiny in some meaningful way; as each of them in their own way has helped to shape and mold me into who I am today.
